PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

BEHAVIOR

  • Encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating POSITIVE support for all athletes, coaches, fans, and judges during all practices and competitions.
  • Encourage your child to play by the rules and respect the other teammates, athletes, coaches, judges, officials, and other parents.
  • Anyone threatening to quit or pull their child from the team will be dismissed from the program immediately.
  • Parents must treat all staff with respect, including the team mom/dads.
  • No parent may reprimand or discipline someone else’s child. BA staff will handle any disciplinary problems.
  • Please do not discipline your child by keeping them home from practice or competitions. Doing so punishes the entire team/program.

PRACTICE

  • Team practices are open for viewing the FIRST WEEK of every month. All other practices are CLOSED to parents, friends, siblings, etc.
  • The gym viewing areas are a privilege. Please respect the athletes and staff and refrain from negative remarks in the viewing area.
  • Please do not attempt to communicate with your child from the viewing area. If parents become a distraction to the team they will be asked to leave the gym for the remainder of practice.
  • Practices may be removed or added at any time during the season.
  • Only BA athletes and coaches are allowed in the gym during team practice and tumbling classes. Absolutely no friends, parents, or siblings in the gym area during practice and classes.
  • It is ultimately the parents’ responsibility to know what is going on with your child’s team. Please check emails, Team App, and Facebook group regularly and communicate with the team parent.
  • Parents, relatives, friends, etc., are not allowed to approach a coach with disrespectful comments at a competition or at/before/after practice. This will result in dismissal from the program. If there is an issue, please send an email to schedule a private meeting with them.
  • In the case of inclement weather, BA will typically follow the Papillion-La Vista school district for closing. This will depend on the weather at the end of the school day. Please watch for emails or announcements via the facebook page regarding practice.
  • Please send a full water bottle labeled with your child’s name to practice/class with your child.

COMPETITION

  • The BA staff will have sole communication with the competition companies. Parents are not permitted to contact vendors directly.
  • It is strongly encouraged for all BA teams to watch each other perform. Sometimes this means showing up to the venue early or staying later to support the teams.

SOCIAL MEDIA

  • No athlete or parent may post inappropriate messages or images on social media about another program or individual.
  • No BA videos containing routine or choreography are to be posted on the internet without permission.
